Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her highly commendable performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards which included an Oscar. Her acting career started on Broadway by performing in a range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway productions. Enthusiastic about acting from her elementary school days, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. Following a bout of Mumps, she was deaf on the one side of her ear. The deafness was not enough to stop her desire to pursue a career as an actress. She studied drama at college, and then moved away from Pittsburgh into New York City to follow her goals. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. After that, she relocated from New York to Los Angeles and tried to find movie roles. For Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Holly Hunter has been in numerous television series, films and movies over the course of her career. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
